Rumours, rumours, rumours. There's been talk about a PS3 version of BioWare RPG
Mass Effect 2 over the last week, and
a slip of the tongue from the writer of Shepard's new adventure adds yet more fuel to the fire.
Speaking in a presentation at Polish gaming event Poznan Game Arena, BioWare's Jay Watamaniuk said that
Mass Effect 2 is heading to three platforms; Xbox 360, PC and "probably the PS3". Polish website
Polygamia picked up on the comment, and noted that Watamaniuk suddenly backtracked on the statement, immediately saying that he doesn't comment on rumours or speculations. Curious.
Destructoid notes that this is the latest in a string of rumoured incidents that are putting pressure on a possible PS3 release of
Mass Effect 2. EA's Russian website added the PS3 to its
Mass Effect 2 page, a move that the publisher said was made "in error". Online retailers have been listing a PS3 version for quite some time.
Whatever happens,
Mass Effect 2 is definitely set for an Xbox 360 and PC release in early 2010.
Thanks to Gamezine for the initial tale.
