Those looking for a Mass Effect fix in time for the PC and Xbox sequel to roll around can feast their eyes on the franchise's first comic book, called Mass Effect: Redemption. It follows the premise of Mass Effect 2 and covers the disappearance of Commander Shepard, and what happens in the meantime.

According to Comic Book Resources, the lead writer of Mass Effect 2 is involved in Mass Effect: Redemption, with scripting duties handed to John Jackson Miller (of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic adaptation) and drawings by Omar Francia (who also inked Star Wars: Legacy).

The comic is due 6th January 2010, giving everyone a chance to get some backstory and arm themselves with some good canon before Mass Effect 2 releases.
