"We call it organised chaos", this is not David Brent from The Office, it's Uncharted developer Naughty Dog's creative director Amy Hennig. Aside from stating the obvious, that Uncharted is an on-going franchise and will keep going for as long as people want it, she also describes the developer's culture in an interview you can see below:
Says the Creative Director, "We don't have any management", before the Creative Director continues, "We don't have any producers at the company. Everybody's just expected to know what they need to do and get on with it. It's a really sort of organic, hive mind structure, which relies on everybody being completely self-starting and we look for that kind of independence.
"And also being outspoken because it's a very collaborative environment. We don't want people just to sort of sit there and do their job. We want to them to say 'hey!, you know if they think something sucks in the game we want them to get up out of their chair and tell the person who's working on it that it sucks, and we'll fix it."
See the full interview below be warned though, the interview contains a hard-hitting question. Here it is: "Will it be awesome?".
"Of course it will be awesome" says an obviously pressured Hennig, happy to have worked her answer to the incisive line of interrogation.
