Apple's Tablet a Game Device Claims Report
Apple's rumoured and speculated Tablet (and/or Macbook Touch) is to be gaming device and home media centre according to an unnamed analyst who apparently spoke to the Barron's financial site.

The device will apparently launch in November following a September unveiling and - again according to the analyst will retail around the $800 (£500) mark. It will come with a 10-inch touch-screen.

Of course, currently the iPhone and iPod touch are touch-screen units that are home multimedia centres (love that BBC iPlayer and, of course, the ability to play music and films) as well as game devices; we are currently enjoying Ragdoll Blaster.

Apple has not commented.

I normally foam at the gash for all Apple products. But this one, which some have already named the iFlop, I cannot seem to get excited about.

Will it be a better portable device than the MacBook Air (which I do foam over, but cannot currently justify) or the iPhone - which is truly awesome? Will it not just be a big and cumbersome iPhone, with an even easier to scratch screen.

I want to love it. But I feel that like the AppleTV, it will be a nearly...

Old news, go to macrumors (or was it the other one). Thanks, Iphone or PSP GO, ahh somebody listened, a gaming tablet, ohh, I wanted to buy a tablet computer too, it all rolls into one. Now to get a nano Iphone to complete the collection. $800 is a lot for a gaming device, $500 would be better, so maybe PC rather than ARM (and Apple has that exclusive GPU core license from ImgTech). But going on the experience of low cost One laptop per child (the low powered low cost screen tech due to come out in sub-notebooks latter this year) a ARM based version could be released around $300 (but that is Itouch territory). Notice new Iphone but no new Itouch. Now if it integrates with the television product and computers they have something. Please note, their seems to be a high quality SHD 9mb/s video codec out there finally, that would help the television product.

WOW! That was a lot of rumour/opinion/prediction in one short sharp blast.

We KNOW the iPad is old news, but it only becomes SPOnG news once it has a games angle... We weren't announcing the device, just that it had been mooted that it was a gaming device...

Amazing! Apple Mac Book has already been very popular and now this technology is certainly going to rock the world. This is not only hi-tech but it is looking beautiful.

There are more features and articles on here:

Spong has a habit of rubbishing news stories until they realize they are true and report on them late. Apple games devices are old news, if I looked at that website, I would probably find reference to the tablet being game enabled, certainly game computers. Also obviously, all market programmable Apple products can play games.

The little nibbles section is quiet useful, but should be on the news page.

Taiwanese manufacturers are lined up to use the lower powered cheaper One laptop per child screen technology (developed out of portable DVD LCD screen technology). The pricing of net books start around $100, so Arm pad plus cheap LCD is viable at $300 (note that is what an Itouch is but bigger screen) PC versions tend to start over $200 (but if you want descent this that and the other say $500). A famous camera company in the states has been showing off there 9mb/s super HD disk player. Apple is supposed to be developing a cheaper and smaller Iphone for the Asian market (though I can't remember the accuracy of the source for that). Apple has a deal (time exclusive I think) with Imagination technology for certain GPU tech, intel also has a deal (sony is rumored to also be signing up for PSP2). Imagination technology caries multiple versions of GPU technology. If you are really interested in reporting, then why not go and interview them, they are in England you know (Hertfordshire, leeds, Chepstow). Much of what I previously said avoided the rumors, a bit of speculation as to what they could do with it though.

It might be opinion to you, but only one of us knows what he is talking about.

Do you care to provide ANY evidence for that?

Staggering arrogance. That's nice.
