At Sony's E3 press briefing, Hideo Kojima took to the stage to announce Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP, a "true sequel" in the MGS series.

Set in the 70s, 10 years after the events of MGS3, Peace Walker deals with the aftermath of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the evolution of Outer Heaven. It's also based around Solid Snake.

Kojima-san was very insistent that he will be deeply involved in Peace Walker, writing and producing the game. He also emphasised that Peace Walker was the true continuation of the Metal Gear story.

Of course, with MGS: Rising stealing Microsoft's press briefing, Sony will have been very persuasive in making sure their MGS fans were placated. Of course, it looks like Rising won't be exclusive to the 360 after all.

Wasnt MGS3 set just after the Cuban missile crisis? I though that the whole deal in MGS3 was that Sokolov was traded back to the Russians to fix the crisis. Hence the entirety of Metal Gear Solid 3, set in 1964.

@Ike Very true, crossed wires at this end, I've corrected the story.

I'm very tempted to get a PSP if this is any good. Portable Ops didn't wow me enough but this looks pretty cool. Though the title sounds like Metal Gear Solid: Piss Water.
