Fanboy Dismay: Sony Movies Return to Xbox 360

It was all a big mistake

Columbia Pictures movies can now, apparently, be Netflix streamed to US Xbox 360s. This follows earlier Internet bluster that Sony's movie arm (including Columbia Pictures) was involved in a massive conspiracy - of one company - to block Netflix streaming of its wares to Xbox 360 users.

The 19th of November saw storms of nonsense regarding Sony cutting off its own movie revenues. We quoted Netflix's VP of corporate communications, Steve Swasey as saying, "In the case of Xbox 360, a few hundred titles are temporarily unavailable to be streamed via the Xbox game console... we hope they’ll be licensed for Xbox 360 shortly".

Guess what? The movies are back. Austin Walker of Examiner.com reports how full of joy he was to discover Ghostbusters back on his download roster. Chris Davies on Slashgear says, "the bulk of subsidiary Columbia Pictures’ movies have lost their “not currently available on Xbox” tag and can now be streamed through the New Xbox Experience update".

Now, all that the US Xbox Live video marketplace has to do is add 'Columbia' to its list of studios (pictured right) to go along with MGM - also owned by Sony.

So, looks like the fanboys will have to find a new conspiracy to bicker over... how about, "How Sony killed SEGA and Nintendo before Microsoft Killed Sony before Nintendo beat them all up and we started all over again except the Atari vs Amiga Holy War will never stop?"
