Latest: Tomb Raider Underworld Revealed

Boobies, guns and broads.

Tomb Raider Underworld, the third and next episode in Lara Croft's tale of tomb raiding has been seen in the tame. Yes, like the Spice Girls, Crystal Dynamics' lady-bouncing, era-defining, platform jumping maverick booby beauty is off again.

The news has been revealed in a dead-tree exclusive which states, "Lara's adventure takes place after the events of Tomb Raider Legend. Her adventure will be a thrill ride for anyone new to the franchise. The emphasis is on bringing Lara's world to life, a lush, vast interactive world that reacts and remembers. It's pure woman versus wild.

"In the level where Lara explores Southern Mexico, she leaves footprints in the mud, but it's raining so they wash away. The bodies she leaves behind in combat encounters will stay, however, as will the debris from any destruction she causes."

Crystal Dynamics' Eric Lindstrom is quoted as saying, "We developed a hybrid lighting model that combines dynamic lights with carefully created light maps to make our world look stunning in ways that none of the available methods could achieve alone."

There will, of course, also be mo-cap "to bring a more natural fluidity to her movements, with proper weight and secondary motion". Who told Lindstrom that anybody in their right mind wanted proper weight or anything approaching reality in Lara? The 'secondary motion comment', however, has made some of the less worldly SPOnGers redden... around the face.

We have to wait for some unstated time in 2008 for release... of the game! It will be on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC (well, Windows).

Cheers to Tomb Raider Chronicles for this.

Stop being mean to magazines!
I love and adore mags. =) Videogame mags might be a bit crap at the moment,

Mmmm.... As it is 'The Holidays' I am going to take this as opinion and not Spam. But what do those titles have to do with video games?

Also, I began writing life on magazines way back when it was just me and Tom Caxton on 8000 Plus magazine for Future Publishing before moving on to New Computer Express and then the heady heights of Amiga Format (with stop offs at S (Sega Power), Commodore Format, PC Plus and PC Format among others).

I learnad averyting i kno abut spolling and grandma frum magzines.

I have nothing against magazines... I just like trees and that.

Cheers

Tim

Crikey but life can bewilder. There you are talking about Monocle and I read this in the Islington Champagne Drinking Socialist Daily.

"The cover price of Sony Magazine, edited by former Loaded editor Tim Southwell, makes it more expensive than the £3.70 Vogue and £3.99 Esquire.

Tyler Brulee's magazine Monocle is one of the few magazines to be more expensive with a cover price of £5."

£5! Brilliant... I'm with W.C. Fields on this one.

I don't have anything against Sony. But that magazine is going down.

I has no constituency. Sony isn't respected enough as a name in electronics to have a following. Their stuff is often good, but next time it's time to buy a Receiver/DVD player/TV, people loo at the market and buy what's best for their available budget. It has no specialism (cycling, fishing, staring at naked women) to exploit and it's WAY too expensive.

I give it seven issues.
