Apple Unveils New Gaming iPods
Yep, it’s that time of the year already. September arrives, and as sure as us Brits are praying for an Indian Summer (any kind of summer would do. Ed), Steve Jobs unveils a new batch of iPods – this time with improved screens for better video playback and gaming features.

The new iPod Nanos will run downloadable games for the first time coming pre-loaded with three games - iQuiz, Vortex and Klondike - while the new 'classic' model iPod (pictured) features a screen designed to suit games.

The new Nano comes in two different models – a 4GB version for a rather reasonable £99, and an 8GB version priced at £129.

Additionally, Jobs unveiled the iPod touch, which is basically a phone-less version on the iPhone with Wi-Fi and the ability to download directly from the iTunes Store.

Still no news on when the UK is set to get the iPhone though.

So what's the point in getting one if you can get an 80GB one? Or will these Touch iPods come at a seriously reduced price (knowing Apple, probably not)?

It's the Video iPod people were waiting for two years ago. But at 320x480, the screen is hardly "HD quality". I'll be getting one because I always said I would... I don't want video playback sapping my phone battery. And I don't want an iPhone until they give it GPS.

In value for money terms, I can't believe nobody slams the iPod the way they slam PS3. iPods are damn crazily priced in my opinion. Yeah, sure they're sweet, but damn they're expensive for what they are.

Its 480p which is ED but on a screen as small as the iPod Touch you wouldnt see the diference between that and 720p

it is technically HD quality.

Realistically, your whole post is wrong. The offical "enhanced definition" spec is 720 x 480. It is also not 1280x720(720p) or 1920x1080(1080p) which are the only certified HD resolutions. If you want to get all nitpicky, I work in the industry, I know details.
