Explosive New Day of Defeat Update

Literally detonates on the Internet.

Last week we brought you news of the free downloadable update to Valve’s WWII shooter, Day of Defeat: Source, which is to be made available later today via Steam, the company's groundbreaking online distribution service.

Valve has just sent us the following trailer, showing off the new detonation style gameplay which the update introduces into the game, featured in the new Colmar map.

SPOnG has to applaud Valve for its forward-thinking attitude to free, downloadable game updates. This is in stark contrast to the recent news of the many 360 gamers less than happy about shelling out for costly Xbox Live game content updates, as in the case of the recent GRAW update.

The trailer, which is cleverly edited together in an authentic WWII cinema newsreel style, shows you just how you can go about blowing up a load of Germans in the game.

Its nice that valve continually releases new content, but it has to be noted that polished though it is, it comes around infrequently and is of limited quantity to that which is released for a premium over LIVE!

The lack of updates and bug fixing has killed off multiplayer games like HL2DM.
