Summary

The Simpson’s Road Rage is the comedy racing game to wow Xbox-owning driving fans. Let’s be honest, this is essentially a cosmetic variation of Sega’s hit arcade game Crazy Taxi, but with the Simpsons in the driving seat. There’s nothing wrong with that, because when you take a successful formula and add the Simpsons, you're onto a winner.

The evil Mr. Burns is up to no good. He’s purchased the Springfield mass transit system and has plans to hike up the prices. Naturally, this outrages the Springfield residents and they decide to start their own taxi business to raise enough cash to buy Mr. Burns out. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s definitely going to be a lot of fun.

The crux of the game is the Road Rage mode where players pick up passengers and deliver them to their destinations within the set time limit. Pick-up is achieved by stopping within the prospective passenger’ssurrounding coloured circle, and their destination is pointed out with the use of a floating hand icon. How you get there is left up to you. Driving through cars, making use of sneaky shortcuts, and driving over scenery are all within the rules. Fast delivery is rewarded with precious extra seconds to extend the length of your driving spell and your score.

To add a little variety, there is a mission mode with tasks such as destroying twelve objects with two minutes. Another nice touch is that you choose how you wish to be rewarded when you reach set dollar limits, either opening up new locations or new characters.

Road Rage is a fun game. It’s easy to play and has tons of interaction. The characters recognise each other and more often than not come out with their inimitable catchphrases, and this alone makes it worth playing.
