FOSTER CITY, Calif.--February 2, 1996--Psygnosis (Sony Interactive):

Psygnosis, the top European software publisher based in Liverpool, today confirmed that it will pursue a multi-format strategy and will publish its software titles across a range of hardware platforms. Psygnosis will begin by publishing for the Sega Saturn, four of its major titles of 1995 -- Wipeout, Destruction Derby, 3-D Lemmings and DiscWorld, and these will be available during the first half of 1996.

Psygnosis was acquired by Sony in 1993 and was then a multi-platform publisher of games software. During the last two years, Psygnosis has concentrated on developing software specifically to support the launch of the PlayStation, which it did, achieving considerable success producing top selling European and North America PlayStation titles. With the PlayStation now established as the pre-eminent games platform amongst the new generation of 32-bit machines, Psygnosis will now continue to pursue its multi-platform development strategy.

The company also confirmed today that it will continue to use its original trading name of Psygnosis, to take advantage of and fully exploit the value the brand name already has within the industry and consumers alike.

Ian Hetherington and Jonathan Ellis, the original founders and now Joint Managing Directors at Psygnosis, commented: "Psygnosis will continue to publish on all platforms that are commercially attractive. Our company-wide strategy for the future includes not only Sony PlayStation but other hardware formats, new interactive business opportunities and many other appropriate areas of convergence."
