Virgin Interactive today announced it has beaten off fierce competition to secure the European licensing and distribution rights to Namco's superb arcade puzzler Mr. Driller. The deal covers the Dreamcast and Game Boy Color SKUs for this addictive title, and is the first Namco title to emerge from under the 'new' Virgin umbrella.

The game is a sublime test of skill and reactions, featuring a cute eponymous hero battling through level after level of brain-busting screens, drilling his way to safety. It's addictive stuff that is currently dazzling the specialist press across Europe, them having voted it one of the most inventive puzzlers of the year.

"It's rare to find a totally fresh game that has appeal across all formats - but Mr. Driller is just that," commented Peter Bilotta, President Virgin Interactive. "We are delighted to have snatched the Dreamcast and Game Boy versions of this Driller title from our rivals and will go all-out to ensure that Mr. D dominates this Christmas."

"Everyone agrees that Mr. Driller is a very addictive title," added Kevin Yanagihara, Representative Director, for Namco, "which is why we sought an exceptional partner. Virgin's enthusiasm for the game, combined with its obvious market know-how is an unbeatable combination. We are pleased to make this announcement."

Mr. Driller will be released on Dreamcast (£29.99) and Game Boy Color (£19.99) in Mid December 2000.
