Square Enix, a leading developer and publisher of interactive entertainment content including the world’s popular franchises Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior in North America), announced today that they have received a special invitation to exhibit FINAL FANTASY VII: Advent Children CG-work at the 61st Venice International Film Festival (September 1st -11th). This represents a unique privilege for Square Enix.
Impressed by the innovation and artistry of FINAL FANTASY VII: Advent Children (which makes full use of Square Enix’s industry-leading 3D graphics technology), the festival organisers issued a special invitation for the film to be a part of the newly created “Venezia Digitale” category. Since it is still in development, FINAL FANTASY VII: Advent Children will not take part in the competition. However, the inclusion of an unfinished work being such an exceptional occurrence, a specially edited display will be put together for the occasion.
FINAL FANTASY VII: Advent Children is a fully CG animated sequel to the PlayStation game FINAL FANTASY VII released in 1997, which sold 4 million copies in Japan and 9 million worldwide. FINAL FANTASY VII: Advent Children is currently under development and is set to be released in late 2004 in Japan. It is an exceptional honour for Square Enix to receive this special invitation from the Venice International Film Festival, one of the three largest of its kind in the world.
