Hack in the U.S.S.R.
Defiantly shaking a hammer and sickle in the face of the Star-Spangled Banner, DreamCatcher Games today announced Cold War: Behind the Iron Curtain, a PC title forging next generation stealth and espionage gameplay into the story of a desperate journalist on the run in the U.S.S.R. of the 1980's.

Fighting for his life behind the Iron Curtain, freelance journalist Matt Carter finds himself thrown furry hat first into an international conspiracy that aims to take control of the U.S.S.R.. Twelve hours after arriving in Moscow for a routine story, Carter has been stripped of all his possessions, beaten unconscious and thrown into the KGB's political prison. The future isn't bright.

Built by a team with first-hand knowledge of the U.S.S.R. and utilizing advanced gameplay that extends the stealth combat seen in titles such as Splinter Cell, Cold War: Behind the Iron Curtain offers a unique and enticing perestroika experience. Players will need to fight, infiltrate and improvise to prevent the overthrow of the pro-GLASNOST government.

Cold War: Behind the Iron Curtain is sprawled across 23 non-linear levels, including Lenin's Mausoleum, Chernobyl and the KGB's notorious Ljubljanka prison, where objectives can be achieved through multiple hidden paths or by combining in-game elements to create all-new weapons and traps.

With strong and realistic A.I., enemies such as the Specnaz, the Russian Special Forces, behave differently to standard soldiers and using only recovered weapons and improvised gadgets, Carter must evade or overcome these enemies to defeat the conspiracy, before he is sent to a Siberian prison camp, or even killed himself.

Good luck comrade.

Cold War: Behind the Iron Curtain will be published by DreamCatcher Games and distributed in the UK by Mindscape for PC in Q4 2004.
