Middlesbrough, 23 June 2004 – Capcom's highly anticipated Mega Man Anniversary Collection will be released in North America on 22 June for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and GameCube. The collection, developed by UK studio Atomic Planet Entertainment (APE) Ltd, features an anthology of classic Mega Man games (Mega Man 1 through 8), plus Mega Man the Power Battle and Mega Man 2 the Power Fighters, two arcade games not previously released in the United States.

Celebrating its 16th anniversary, Mega Man is one of the most beloved video game characters of all time. The Mega Man series features a small blue robot on a quest to rid the world of the evil Dr. Wily and his attempts to control the world and its resources. Notoriously difficult to master, yet hugely addictive, the series has been regularly added to throughout the years as new video game platforms are released.

The Mega Man Anniversary Collection allows the user to play games originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), PlayStation game console, and arcade systems.

The Mega Man Anniversary Collection includes a number of new features that can be unlocked by completing certain levels. This additional content includes original artwork, interview with the creator of Mega Man, an episode of the Mega Man cartoon, and specially remixed music tracks from the game.

APE's Operations Director, Jason Falcus states "It is great to have worked with a top publisher such as Capcom on one of their most successful franchises. Such a classic collection of games deserved a chance to be revisited on modern platforms, and fans of MegaMan are going to love the perfect recreation our team has produced, and all the extras we have added thanks to the assistance of Capcom, and the games’ original creators."
