Atomic Planet Entertainment Ltd. is a video game development studio, based in the north east of England. Its focus is to create high quality games predominantly for the mass market, utilising some of the best talent in the industry, and the best technology available.
APE was formed in July 2000 by brothers Darren and Jason Falcus. In the past they have headed Optimus Software, Iguana UK and Acclaim Studios Teesside, and accumulated a wealth of experience in the gaming industry, along with a large number of titles under their belt.
Following successes in the form of Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing and DinoIsland for WAP enabled mobile phones, the company has continued to grow, securing lucrative deals to develop games for the likes of Capcom, Cinemaware, Infogrames and Orange.
Recently developed titles include Mega Man Anniversary Collection, Jackie Chan Adventures, Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown, Gametrak: Dark Wind, Miami Vice, and Taito Legends.
Watch out for many more high profile games releases in the near future.
Atomic Planet's first work that SPOnG is aware of is the 2002 title, "Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing" (PS2).
The company has been involved titles released on the PC, Wii, DS/DSi, PS2, PSP, Xbox, GBA and PlayStation. Of these, "Carol Vorderman's Sudoku" (PSP) and "Carol Vorderman's Sudoku" (PS2) have been best selling titles.
The company's most recent involvement was on the 2008 release "Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure" (PS2).
