Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest videogame publishers, today announced it will release Rocky Legends for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and Xbox as part of an exclusive licensing agreement with MGM Interactive, a Unit of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. Rocky Legends will let players experience the pummelling action and untold backstories that lead up to the events chronicled in the blockbuster Rocky movies. Pound the competition as legendary fighters Rocky Balboa (the Italian Stallion from the streets of Philly), Apollo Creed (the Master of Disaster), Clubber Lang (straight out of a Chicago jailhouse) and Ivan Drago, (the Iron Fist of mother Russia), rise from their raw beginnings as unproven amateurs toughing it out along the way to their professional careers as boxing champions.
The game is being developed by Venom Games with a team comprised of many individuals who created the highly-acclaimed first Rocky videogame. Rocky Legends will deliver the ideal mix of arcade fun and simulation boxing. The game promises to provide fresh features including new boxers and venues, intuitive gameplay and improved graphics. In addition, the game will be playable online via Xbox Live, allowing toe-to-toe matchups and competitive leagues.
"Ubisoft is extremely excited to partner Metro Goldwyn Mayer for the next round of Rocky success." said Florence Alibert EMEA Marketing Director for Ubisoft. "With the huge success of the first Rocky videogame, I'm confident Rocky 2 will be a Knock Out for gamers."
"The ongoing partnership and resulting Rocky Legends videogame with Ubisoft is the direct result of commercial and critical success from the first Rocky game," said Neil Haldar, Vice President, Production and Business Development, MGM Interactive. "Rocky Legends will again showcase our diversified and successful approach in collaborating with strong partners for our videogame business."
Rocky Legends is slated to enter the gaming arena this Autumn 2004.
