Atomic Planet Shortlisted for Two Awards

Middlesbrough, 5th March 2004 – Atomic Planet Entertainment (APE) Limited, based in Middlesbrough, announce that they have been shortlisted for two awards in the prestigious annual North East Business Awards for the Tees Valley.

The studio, which was formed in 2000 by brothers Darren and Jason Falcus is responsible for game titles such as Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing, Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown on PC and XBox, and the forthcoming MegaMan Anniversary Collection for Capcom. It has been nominated for the Export award, sponsored by UK Trade and Investment, and the Technology award, sponsored by Aker Kvaerner.

Following a year of substantial growth, company re-branding, increase in staff, and a number of important projects, Managing Director Darren Falcus comments “Being nominated for these awards is the perfect culmination to a year of hard work and determination at Atomic Planet.” He adds “It also demonstrates our commitment to the region and to running a top quality company which prides itself on the technology it uses and the products it develops for publishers worldwide.”

The award presentation ceremony will be held on Thursday 1st April. “Whether we win or not is irrelevant” concludes Darren “being included in a short list of three is superb recognition of our progress and that is excellent.”
