Blue Byte continues to thrive on the urge to conquer as Quest Of The Amazons goes gold and annouces the development of The Settlers® IV™.
London, England, 5 September 1999 - - Just as Quest Of The Amazons goes into final production , Blue Byte Software announced today at the European Computer Trade Show (ECTS), they have a dedicated project team already at work on the next phase of the Settlers series and confirmed The Settlers® IV is scheduled for release during Fourth Quarter 2000.
With over 2.1 million copies sold, the Settlers series is undoubtedly Blue Byte’s most successful product line. The Settlers® was released in December 1993 for the Amiga and proceeded to wreak havoc as hundreds of Settlers characters marched on to the screens of strategy fans PC’s. Animated chaos struck home a second time when The Settlers® II – Veni, Vidi, Vici was released in April 1996. This release proved to be an even bigger success than its predecessors. Any doubts about the series success were laid to rest when the gaming industry watched The Settlers® III storm the charts in November 1998 and was showed with critical accolade from the press. Within just a few months, The Settlers® III sold more than 600,000 copies. Blue Byte continued with the development of acclaimed series, listened intently to their fans and included more options, allowing them to choose from any of three nations, extended multiplayer options including free online gaming on the Internet and a world-wide ladder ranking system. The Settlers III Mission CD hit the stores earlier this year giving hard-core strategists something to chew on during their wait for the latest Settlers Expansion Pack, Quest Of The Amazons.
