Sports Interactive Signs Deal with Express Newspapers.

June 16th 2000: Sports Interactive, creators of the Championship Manager range of games, is delighted to be in partnership with the Daily Express, Sunday Express and Daily Star newspapers for the duration of Euro 2000. Sports Interactive has created the world's first online football management simulation for Sportlive, the Express Group web site.

A blitz of publicity across the Daily Express, Sunday Express and Daily Star has seen the successful launch of a unique online version of Championship Manager This specially created java version of the best-selling football management game puts you in charge of a Euro 2000 team. You pick your preferred team and formation, analyse the strengths and weaknesses of your opponents and choose your tactics. Then play the game. This is the perfect opportunity to prove yourself a better manager than Kevin Keegan. Daring would-be managers can even try out the 3-5-2 formation to see just how England would fare against Germany tomorrow if only Keegan would change his tactics

The game forms the centrepiece of a betting/prediction competition with cash prizes totalling UKP40,000 across both newspapers. Players place their 'bets' from an allocation of points given at the beginning of each round of the competition. Top points scorers can win cash amounts from between UKP1,000 to UKP20,000.

"We are extremely pleased to be continuing our relationship with Sportlive." Stated Paul Collyer, Joint Managing Director of Sports Interactive. "After the success of the Twelve Nations Championship online simulation, we wanted to strengthen our ties with the Express Group. This partnership gives us the perfect opportunity to expose the Sports Interactive and Championship Manager brand names to a more mainstream consumer."

"The online game is pretty cool - you can try out different teams selections and formations and see how they fare - maybe Kevin Keegan should use it!" Adds Oliver Collyer, also Joint Managing Director of Sports Interactive.
