LOS ANGELES — May 11, 2000 — Mattel Interactive, leading publisher and developer of home entertainment software, today announced TYCO R/C for the Microsoft X-Box video game system. The new racing title leverages the machine’s movie-quality rendering and superior audio to deliver an intense, action-packed game that will make players reach for their seat belts.

“Our goal is to provide strong, compelling interactive entertainment that will appeal both to hard-core gamers who seek constant stimulation and the more than 30 million casual game players who want a more relaxed, but equally engaging experience,” said Bernard Stolar, president, Mattel Interactive. “With this new title, we are creating a bridge for both audiences to the next generation in gaming.”

TYCO R/C Gets a Standing Ovation
The first TYCO R/C title for X-Box puts one to four players behind the wheel of remote control vehicles based on popular TYCO R/C cars -- Super Rebound, Tantrum, Psycho and Hot Rocker -- and allows players to race individually against the AI or head-to-head via split screen. Drivers will race through a variety of arcade-like environments including construction sites, elaborate gardens, parks and wooded areas.

In addition to the standard single race mode, players can also compete in one of four distinct Battle Arenas or one of six unique Racing Tournament levels. Battle arenas will have up to three weather variations with multiple terrain types like ice, mud, water and snow that can affect each car’s handling and performance. Each TYCO R/C car will have its own unique stunt move, mimicking its real world counterpart and pulling off wild and insane flips, bumps and jumps. The product will also feature a “Charge” power-up system that will activate energy powered Shots, Shields and Turbo power-ups.

TYCO R/C is scheduled for release simultaneously with the launch of X-Box in Q3 2001.
