HotGen Studios continues its ambitious expansion drive with the announcement today that Peter Wood has made a strategic investment in the company. A whirlwind within the financial services sector, Wood's experience and drive fits perfectly with the HotGen mould, as the studio looks to position itself at the forefront of interactive digital entertainment.

Wood's vision is unrivalled. As founder of Direct Line insurance in 1985, Wood has played a key role in shaking up the financial services world and forging a new business model in a traditional, staid market. Direct Line now leads the industry, offering over three million customers more affordable cover.

More recently, Wood became the Executive Chairman and founding shareholder of Esure Limited, a predominantly Internet-based insurance company and subsidiary of Halifax Group plc. In addition, Peter is a non-executive Director of the Economist and non-executive Director and founding shareholder of The Underwriter Insurance Company, he is also Vice-Chairman of Direct Response Corporation and Homesite Insurance Group in the US.

Wood's investment within HotGen will raise the studio's profile in the City and establish fresh opportunities outside those normally pursued by traditional developers. HotGen has already established itself as the most astute independent developer with its experienced management team and licence acquisition program, and Wood's association will add increased credibility among more mainstream markets.

"Peter has a tremendous ability to spot new markets and revenue opportunities," said Fergus McGovern, HotGen's Founder and Managing Director, "and we're delighted he has made this investment within HotGen. This is the first time such a high profile financial industry figure has taken such an active interest in an interactive entertainment company, and we're confident his vision will continue to push HotGen in fresh and exciting directions."

"There's no doubt that the interactive entertainment industry will outstrip traditional markets such as music and film within the next couple of years," added Peter Wood, "and I am delighted to be a part of that digital revolution. Despite being less than two years old, HotGen has already impressed me enough to believe that it will be one of the major players once the market has consolidated. I am looking forward to being a part of its development."

The announcement of several high-profile and groundbreaking projects is due imminently.
