With over 100 million Pokemon video games sold worldwide, the next historic chapter of the biggest video games series is unveiled today as Pokemon jumps onto the top selling Game Boy Advance. Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire will be available in Japan from November 21 and will launch across Europe next year.
Following on from the tales of Johto in Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver - the new adventure on the Game Boy Advance will be the biggest Pokemon experience so far! In the next quest to become the greatest Pokemon master, players will be able to experience a brand new world bathed in the most glorious graphics seen on a handheld console.
Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire will feature new trainers, advanced trading and battling action, and new Pokemon to add to your collection! What's more - this will be the first time players can try out an awesome new tag system that allows you to battle with two Pokemon against your rivals at the same time. This will definitely test Pokemon trainer's gaming skills and battle strategy to the next level.
David Gosen, Managing Director sales and marketing of Nintendo of Europe comments: "Pokemon on the Game Boy is one of the best loved global game series and has sold over 23 million units across Europe alone. Its evolution onto the Game Boy Advance will open a brand new Pokemon world and gaming experiences that will excite fans worldwide."
With over 31,000 individual licenses worldwide, Pokemon has become the biggest video games franchise ever since its release six years ago in Japan. The last chapter, Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver sold a massive 1 million in 2 days of launch in Europe alone… it appears there's no stopping everyone's favourite creatures!
Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire launches in Japan on November 21 2002 and is set for release across Europe in 2003.
