Winning Eleven 6 hits million mark
Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo (KCE TYO) has announced that Winning Eleven 6, their incredibly realistic football title for PlayStation 2, has achieved sales of one million units in Japan within just eight weeks on sale.

Winning Eleven 6 is the precursor to Konami of Europe's Pro Evolution Soccer 2, which will be released at the beginning of November. Its unique blend of realistic movement and ball control and incredible visuals and sound have made it a firm favourite of football fans all over the globe - with Japanese games-players sending the game to the top of the PlayStation 2 sales chart.

Creator Konami TYO is now busy refining Winning Eleven 6 for European tastes, with the Tokyo-based team implementing a number of gameplay additions for the resultant Pro Evolution Soccer 2. These include extensive UMBRO branding, all new player kits and team rosters - in addition to slight enhancements to Winning Eleven 6's intuitive control system.

"We are delighted that Winning Eleven 6 has been so well received in Japan," commented Kunio Neo, President for Konami of Europe. "It represents the absolute pinnacle of football games. With the refinements Konami TYO is currently putting in place for its European release as Pro Evolution Soccer 2, we are also very confident the game will enjoy equal success all across our European territories."

Pro Evolution Soccer 2 is released for PlayStation 2 in November, price TBC.
