London, 21 December 2011: Gran Turismo®5, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s (SCEE’s) hugely popular racing simulation game for PlayStation®3, is further enhanced today with the addition of Functionality Update 2.02 and a new downloadable content (DLC) car pack.

GT5™ was launched to critical acclaim in November, 2010 and sold 5.5 million units worldwide within the first two weeks. Since launch, the game has been improved by a number of updates, the most significant – 2.0 – coming in October 2011. Update 2.02 continues the trend of providing the legions of Gran Turismo fans from around the world with requested improvements to the record breaking title.

At the same time, gamers can also add to GT5’s impressive list of cars by purchasing DLC Car Pack 2 from the PlayStation®Store. The four stunning new cars include a new and improved 2012 Nissan GT-R Black edition R35, 2011 MINI COOPER S, 2010 Volkswagen Golf VI R, and a 2010 Volkswagen Scirocco R.

As we enter the festive season, SCEE is also offering gifts to GT5 gamers. The 2.02 update includes the ability to change wheels on standard cars, plus 10 free coupons that allow you to wash cars, change oil, overhaul your engine, or refresh the car body in GT Auto. Players who have installed the 2.02 update, will also be gifted the stunning Toyota 86 GT '12. Any players who downloaded any of the individual DLC packs released in October, can receive the Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 SP and five New Car Refresh cards. The cards can be used to restore any of your cars to their ‘new’ condition, without losing any parts additions or paint jobs.

Another enhancement now available for GT5 is a free ‘Family Upgrade’. This allows more than one user per PS3™ access to the Racing Car Pack 1 and Course Pack 1 DLC (either bought individually or as part of the ‘Complete Pack’) that was released in October. This means that family members or friends that share a PS3 can all access the cars and courses rather than this content being limited to the purchasing PSN ID. This function will be automatic on Car Pack 2.

“It is exciting for me to watch Gran Turismo 5 grow, evolve and improve,” explains the game’s creator and President of Polyphony Digital, Kazunori Yamauchi. “This was always my vision for GT5 and I hope that players will enjoy this latest set of enhancements. It has been a great year for us getting feedback from around the world about GT5 and I wish all players a fantastic festive season and new year.”
