Nottingham, 08/07/11 – GameCity, the world’s best-loved videogames festival, last night made the first announcements regarding the line up for this year’s annual celebration of videogames culture, GameCity6, at a private launch party in Nottingham. A public launch party to unveil further details will be announced soon.From October 25-29th, Nottingham will once again come alive with five days of the very best celebration of videogames culture, and Another World creator Eric Chahi will not only launch the festivities, but will curate the entire first day with a focus on his upcoming title, From Dust.
Joining Chahi, Naughty Dog’s Lead Game Designer Richard Lemarchand will offer fans a personal introduction to Nathan Drake’s latest outing in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, as well as a behind the scenes look back at the previous two entries in the blockbusting trilogy during a Creator’s Commentary.
Having captivated audiences with their performative playthrough of Flower during GameCity Squared, thatgamecompany’s Robin Hunicke will return to host a late night, large-scale projection of upcoming adventure title, Journey.
Acclaimed Czech developer and founder of Amanita Design Jakub Dvorsky will also return to Nottingham to present three exclusives for GameCity6; the unveiling of the highly anticipated Samorost 3 and Botanicula, and the UK premiere of puppet spectacular, Kooky.
GameCity Director Iain Simons said, “We’re hugely excited about this opening line-up for GameCity, it’s shaping up to the best yet. We’re just getting started with the programme for this year, with some huge new headline features yet to be announced.”
Simons also unveiled the relaunch of OpenGameCity, the submission platform for anyone interested in curating their own event as part of the festivities. Previous entries include virtual speed dating, interactive art installations and spy training lessons on how to disarm bombs and navigate laser fields.
