This winter will be wetter than ever for Game Boy Advance owners, as Bits Studios reveals the first details of Jet Riders, its stunning portable Jet Ski racing game due for completion in December 2001.

Jet Riders, a top-down racer, combines fast-paced Jet Ski racing with unprecedented handheld detail. Controlling one of six watercraft and riders, players can mess around in free practice or compete in one of three competition modes for the coveted title of Jet Master.

Gamers can choose from all-out race (fastest player round the course wins), stunt mode (highest-scoring stunts claim victory) and time trial (race against your best time). Finally, there’s multiplayer, in which up to four players can battle it out together. Jet Riders features single-pak multiplayer so GBA-owning mates need share only one copy of the game between them.

Featuring an eight-way multi-directional scrolling display, Jet Riders incorporates real-time water effects and wave animations. In-game characters, craft and scenery are pre-rendered 3D sprites intricately animated to show off movement, tricks and aerial stunts.

Spread across three worldwide locations, Jet Riders’ 21 unique courses offer a series of diverse challenges. Daring stunts are rewarded with points multipliers crucial for humiliating your opponents.

"With Jet Riders, we wanted to combine ‘old-school’ playability, with next-generation visuals," says Foo Katan, managing director and CEO of Bits Studios. "The game is fast, furious and, most importantly, incredible fun. We’re confident Jet Riders will be a unique addition to the GBA’s racing game portfolio."

Jet Riders will be available in early 2002, publisher and price to be announced.
