3DO Europe today announced that Jonny Moseley Mad Trix will be unveiled for the first time in Europe at the Daily Mail Ski and Snowboard Show, National Hall, Olympia, London from 26th October to 4th November 2001 on stand 618. Due for release in February 2002, Jonny Moseley Mad Trix will offer a welcome break from traditional snowboard gaming with the introduction of extreme trick-based skiing to the PlayStation 2.
Jonny Moseley is one of the most dynamic American contenders for Olympic gold in the 2002 Winter Games. Moseley won the gold medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, for the freestyle mogul event and came home a national hero. In 2000 Moseley won the Freeze US Freeskier Slopestyle event, as well as a silver medal in the ‘Big Air’ event at the 1999 Winter X-Games. Moseley has revolutionised skiing by bringing a non-traditional, ‘extreme’ style to the Olympics and became world famous for his trademark jump, the ‘360 mute grab’.
Maximising PlayStation 2 technology, an all-new second-generation game engine will create unique and stunningly photo-realistic environments. In the Slopestyle mode, players race through fantastical environments such as snowed-in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Rome and many other cities, pulling off sick tricks and competing for medals, sponsors and fame. The Slopestyle courses are man-made, with half-pipes, quarter-pipes, kickers, picnic tables, big air ramps and rails, all used to rack up huge trick points.
Once players have proven themselves in the slopestyle mode, they can then advance to ‘Big Mountain’ mode, where they can star in their very own ski movies. ‘Big Mountain’ mode challenges players to tame some of the world’s tallest peaks, including Mount Everest and Mount Kilimanjaro while dodging over the top mountain hazards, such as giant avalanches. Players can get heli-dropped onto an open mountain or throw themselves off cliffs, pull insane grabs off snow-capped cottages, fly over trains, railslide on fallen trees and more. Inbounds or out of bounds, ‘Big Mountain’ mode lets players watch their best moments time and again on the big screen.
Players can choose between professional freeskiers Jonny Moseley, Tanner Hall, Evan Raps and Vinnie Doran, or a host of outrageous fictional characters.
Jonny Moseley Mad Trix will be published by 3DO Europe for PlayStation 2 in February 2002. This will coincide with the 2002 Winter Olympics (which take place throughout February in Salt Lake City, Utah), where Jonny will be aiming to repeat his spectacular Olympic gold medal winning performance.
