A true legend with car enthusiasts around the world, the Mini Cooper was a huge success in the world of rallying. Winning numerous championships it didn't have any serious rivals until cars such as the Escort Twin cam and Alpine A110 appeared.

Ford Lotus Cortina Mk1
The Cortina had an impressive run in rallying and was the car that really started Fords success in the rally world, making its first appearance in 1963.

Ford Escort RS2000 Mk1
The first sight of the Escort 2-litre beast was in 1972 but the car didn't really make an impact or live up to its true potential until 1974 when the Mk2 arrived on the scene.

Opel Kadett Rallye
The Opel Kadett's rather rocky history in racing began in 1969. In fact, it wasn't very successful until the Kadett Rallye appeared with its huge 1.9 litre engine.

Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA
Alfa Romeo's Giulia GTA was very popular among private owners. However, it was a racing car through and through with all the power it needed to be a success.

Saab 96 V4
After the success of the Saab's original two-stroke 96, Saab placed a Ford V4 engine into the trusted and sturdy chassis. It had its first taste of rally action in 1966 at a national event in Finland where the new engine proved a success as the rather strange looking Swedish car hurtled straight to the finish line.

Volvo 122 Amazon
Large, heavy, simple and reliable, the Volvo 122 Amazon was raced with relative success in the sixties. During its time, it proved itself to have great road-holding ability and breaking power despite its large and heavy chassis.

Lancia Fulvia 1.6 Coupe HF
The Fulvia 1.6 HF came to the rally racing scene with all the lessons learned from the poor performance of the 1.3l version. It was a great success straight away after four days it had its first victory.

The Lancia Stratos was the first rally car that was designed as a racing car from the beginning of its development, Stratos ushered in a new era of rallying. By the end of 1972, the first Stratos prototype was used but became hampered by suspension problems. In 1974 the Stratos saw some real action.

Fiat 600 Abarth
Without doubt one of the best-known rally cars, the tiny Fiat 600 Abarth was a real predator on the track with its small cassis and rear engine tuned to perfection by the legendary Abarth and Co. It has an almost unbelievable history with a vast number of victories.

Renault Alpine A110 1600
The Alpine appeared in many variants before getting a 1565cc engine at the end of 1968. That is when it really became a powerful racecar. Originally only used in the French national events it didn't see any international action before 1970.
