Widely tipped to become one of the biggest selling computer games of all time, The Weakest Link will feature a digital Anne Robinson every bit as fierce-some as in the actual game show. You can see pictures of 'Cyber Anne' by clicking on the following DPK url www.digital-outlook.com/weakestlink

The game, based on the BBC television show, has the players controlling contestants to work together to amass prize money before voting each other out, until just one winner remains.

Product features include the following:

  • 'Single or Multiplayer options' - up to 7 players can play at once
  • A huge bank of questions - over 100,000
  • A choice of 24 'real' contestants each with their own characteristics and strengths
  • The likeness and voice of the host Anne Robinson, who insults you and exposes your weaknesses throughout the game
  • Fast paced competition just like the real show

The Weakest Link will be released throughout the U.K. on the 28th September, 2001 for the PC and PlayStation game console and in November for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system.

The RRP for both the PlayStation game console and PC games will be £24.99, while the PlayStation 2 version will retail for £39.99. The ELSPA rating has also been confirmed as being suitable for 3 years plus, across all three platforms.

The Weakest Link is one of the BBC's hottest properties, broadcast in the UK on BBC One and BBC Two in primetime slots. The show has steadily become part of British pop culture with the phrases such as "You are the Weakest Link - Goodbye" and "It's time to vote off the Weakest Link". The new series began again in August 2001 and looks set to run up to Christmas and will include celebrity specials.

Outside the UK, BBC Worldwide has concluded deals in the U.S., Australia, Germany and the Netherlands, where the show commenced transmission earlier this year. In addition, BBC Worldwide is working with BBC Production and local broadcasters to recreate the television series in more than 60 territories including France, Italy, Belgium, Turkey, Israel, Portugal, India, Latin America, the Middle East and Russia and is also in talks with broadcasters in a number of additional territories.
