Turok 3: Shadow Of Oblivion For The Nintendoâ 64 Explodes Into Stores This Summer

Glen Cove, NY – (February 9, 2000) – Acclaim Entertainment (NASDAQ: AKLM), a leading worldwide interactive entertainment developer, today announced that its latest installment in the Turok series, Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion, is currently in development and will be ready for a late Summer 2000 release. Created by the highly-regarded Acclaim Austin Studios, Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion pushes the N64 technology to its limits and is based on objective and mission-based gameplay, delivering the most awesome 3D action available on any gaming platform.

“In Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion, gamers will find themselves wrapped in a compelling and detailed storyline enhanced by scripted in-game events and cut scenes throughout the game. Gamers also start out with the ability to play as one of two lead characters – Joseph or Danielle Fireseed, Joshua Fireseed’s siblings,” said David Dienstbier, Creative Director at Acclaim Entertainment. “Entire new areas will open up to each character depending on who you choose, yet each character is dependent on the other’s capabilities in order to complete the game.”

The storyline for Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion centers around “Oblivion,” a monstrous cosmic entity that consumes everything in its path. Oblivion desperately seeks a means to punch through the Netherscape that separates our world from the Lost Land, and the Lost Land from countless others. The last shreds of the pure energy source that created our world and nearly wiped out Oblivion are contained within the Light Burden that every member of the Turok lineage has carried. The death of the Turok mantle will signal the beginning of the end… the rebirth of Oblivion.

Once entered Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion, gamers will also find themselves in the most graphically detailed environments ever seen on the N64, each vastly different and extremely varied. Turok 3’s five worlds are extremely varied, gamers will find themselves fulfilling missions in a very Blade Runner-esque futuristic level, a military city and a jungle level among others. Gamer’s will also soon realize that, similar to our own existence, each world features a “living environment,” meaning the environment is in a constant state of movement that is not dependent on the players actions.

Turok 3 features 24 incredibly innovative and upgradable weapons and over 40 extremely cunning enemies with extremely bright artificial intelligence attempting to defeat their challengers. Enemies are also extremely unpredictable; they will never reappear in the same place twice. Some of Turok’s most popular weapons will make a comeback, and gamers can expect to see some new weapons that will blow them away! Turok 3 will also make use of dynamic lighting for some of the most gorgeous lighting effects ever seen in a video game. For the multiplayer buffs, Turok 3 will include over 48 unique maps and 8 gameplay modes such as Blood Lust, Monkey Tag, Color Tag and Capture the Flag. Lastly, Turok 3 will also make thorough use of a fully orchestrated musical score, digital speech and improved sound effects throughout the entire game for enhanced gameplay experience.
