April 19th 2000: Sports Interactive, creators of the best-selling Championship Manager series of computer games, is proud to announce the sponsorship of the
Worldnet football tournament.

Organised by The Internet Football Association (see
http://www.internetfootball.org for more information), The Worldnet football tournament is real football played by fans representing their teams and will be held in Leeds on July 22nd and 23rd. This is the fifth time that the tournament has run now and it is getting incredibly popular - this year will see over 1,000 people representing over 40 clubs from around the world.

The Internet Football Association was formed to bring together the e-mail discussion groups who started playing football against each other in the early 90's. By 1996, a number of these supporters were regularly competing against other similar outfits on a friendly basis, often on the same day as their league
counterparts met.

That year, the first tournament for internet football teams - Euronet 96 -was played in Nottingham. The event proved a huge success and has been run every year since. It is now so big that the organisers have changed the name, and the
tournament is now known as Worldnet. The tournament is growing rapidly: in 1996, the tournament attracted 12 teams and in 1999 there were 40 teams.

"The Internet Football Association is dedicated to bringing together rival sets of fans to play in friendly matches. These fans are there for more than just football; there's a sense of camaraderie between the fans that is totally refreshing," says Paul Collyer, joint Managing Director of Sports Interactive.

"Being a part of something that brings opposing fans together in a friendly way on the pitch rather than seeing them pitted against each other outside of the stadia is life-affirming for us, especially considering the recent events that
have surely appalled every reasonably-minded football fan." added Oliver Collyer, joint Managing Director of Sports Interactive.

"We're delighted to have the sponsorship of Sports Interactive," stated John 'Betty' Boocock, the tournament organiser. "The whole team is made up of genuine
football fanatics that really understand what we're trying to achieve here."

The Sports Interactive Cup will be awarded to the winning squad at the awards ceremony on July 23rd. The results will then be posted at:
