3DO Europe has announced the release of Heroes of Might and Magic IV, the next chapter in the Heroes of Might and Magic series, for PC CD-ROM in Christmas 2001. Developed by California-based New World Computing, Heroes of Might and Magic IV combines a mighty new game engine with the magical gameplay of the Heroes line, forging a shiny new hero in this award-winning series.
Like its predecessors, Heroes of Might and Magic IV features highly detailed fantasy worlds in a battle for territory and resources. However, this latest release showcases an all-new Height-Map Terrain Editor which allows players to create their own graphically-elevated levels and a completely random scenario and map guarantees no two games are ever the same. Players will command armies comprised of skilful heroes and fantastic creatures, collecting vital resources and artefacts as well as battling enemies and capturing towns. Strategic planning and tactical cunning are instrumental to become the undisputed ruler of a new world.
When a cataclysm destroys Erathia, Emilia Nighthaven loses everything. Orphaned and alone in a strange new world, she organizes the frightened survivors so they can defend themselves against those who prey on the weak. But then the Immortal King Magnus appears and demands that she give up the throne of the kingdom she founded. Not only does he have the merciless Dragon Golems at his disposal, but also a device capable of controlling the minds of those who come near him.
How can Emilia defend her kingdom against that kind of power? Soon, her friends unwittingly become her enemies. Once again, she is truly alone.
Heroes of Might and Magic IV will be published by 3DO Europe for PC CD-ROM in Christmas 2001.
