Sudden Strike Forever, the eagerly-awaited follow-up to last autumn's hit Sudden Strike, will go on sale on June 29. This new release adds a wealth of new missions and features to the central Sudden Strike engine, enhancing the gameplay and providing the game's many fans with new missions, new units and new ways to play.
Buyers will need a copy of the original Sudden Strike in order to play Sudden Strike Forever, and its total of 39 new missions, but the expansion pack adds far more to the game than that.
Many of the new elements have been included as a result of feedback from customers. For example, Sudden Strike Forever features a British campaign of three distinct missions, complete with British units and World War II troops, thanks to numerous requests from UK players of the original game. There are also new campaigns to be fought as Allied, German and Russian forces, as in the original Sudden Strike.
The multi-player angle is now vastly improved, with 20 additional missions specifically for groups of players. Players can also now set the length of a game and implement a variety of conditions, such as no reinforcements, instant reinforcements or 5 min capture reinforcements.
For those who want quick fixes, however, there are also seven new single player missions to enjoy. Apart from the improved gameplay features, these also enable the player to adjust the difficulty levels, from easy, through medium, to hard.
One feature that has been high on everyone's request list and which has duly been included in Sudden Strike Forever is the Map and Mission Editor. This editor in a Windows GUI will enable you to design maps and be creative with the missions set. Expect the Sudden Strike community to increase exponentially as users challenge each other online and swap maps.
Other features new to Sudden Strike Forever include:
- Over 30 new units incorporated into the game.
- Vehicles reversing.
- Generals now have binoculars for long-range sight.
- Easier to control, better interface and less clicks for action.
- Improved path finding.
- Simplified weapons transport and reloading.
- New terrain, including autumn and desert scenarios.
- Three new missions for each of the existing Allies, Russian and German campaigns.
Sudden Strike Forever now incorporates Internet lobby support, via the Gamespy interface, for improved Internet gaming, chat, and community building.
Sudden Strike Forever will be released for PC CD-ROM on June 29, 2001, with an SRP of £19.99. More information on the new features can be found at the Sudden Strike web site on www.suddenstrike.com.
