March 27th 2001: Sports Interactive (SI), the Islington-based team behind the best-selling Championship Manager games, has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Miles Jacobson as Managing Director.
Miles, who has been working with SI in a consultancy capacity for four years, will assume day-to-day responsibility for the company’s growth, commercial partnerships and future business development. The company’s erstwhile MDs, founders Paul and Oliver Collyer, will assume the positions of Joint Chairmen and will concentrate on the growth and development of the best-selling Championship Manager series and related products.
Commenting on the appointment, Paul Collyer says: This appointment does little more than confirm the position which Miles has assumed within the company over the past year or so. With Miles taking responsibility for everything commercial within the company, Oliver and I are free to get on with what we do best developing and improving the best footie management game that money can buy. The results of this will be clear for everyone to see in next season’s update and, even more so, in next year’s Championship Manager 4.
As far as I am concerned, this is the best job in the business, adds Miles. I am delighted that Paul and Oliver have entrusted me with the running of their company and I hope to make as good a job of it as they have over the past 10 years.
In addition to taking the reins at Sports Interactive, Miles will continue to work on a number of other games- and music-related projects through his work as Creative Director of Anglo Interactive and Sci Fi Recordings.
