US retailer GameStop has revealed that its initial PlayStation 4 campaign, "First to Know", has caught the attention of some 600,000 consumers since February 20. The numbers, although not hard evidence, suggest that interest in Sony's next-generation console is growing at an impressive rate.
MCV reports that the "First to Know" subscriber service is only restricted to GameStop PowerUp Rewards members, making the figure slightly more tasty for retail and Sony execs.
"With only a glance at the PS4, gamers are excited and eager to know more," said GameStop president Tony Bartel. "Within just a few weeks, more than 600,000 people have signed up, showing strong demand for this new console."
There's still some eight months to go until the console is ready for its 'Holiday 2013' launch. And of course, there's GDC and E3 amongst other events to get excited about first. We wonder just how high this number can go...
