Video: Wii U Appears to Upscale Wii Games
Those of you who were lucky enough to buy a Wii U this weekend (see: Americans) will have a nice surprise when inserting a backwards-compatible Wii disc into the console. According to one keen-eyed YouTuber, Nintendo's new machine appears to upscale previous generation games to 1080p.

It's not altogether clear how good the upscale process is, on account of the quality of the YouTube video, but if it's legitimate then it's a very welcome feature indeed. It also would, of course, go against Nintendo's own words - the company said that the Wii U will not be able to upscale Wii games at all.

So what's going on? Is it the console? Is it the TV? Is it not upscaling at all, and simply stretching the screen (the video author claims marked differences in 2D games)? Watch the video below, and see for yourself. Ready that copy of Tatsunoko vs Capcom, just in case.

Maybe it looks better because your using an HDMI connection and not a component or composite video connection? Just a thought...
