Andy Payne, owner of publisher Mastertronic and chairman of trade organisation UKIE, has received an OBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List.
The industry legend was recognised for his services to the UK computer games industry. Alongside Mastertronic and UKIE, Payne has worked with organisations BAFTA and GamesAid to raise the profile and awareness of the industry in the country.
Payne said to MCV that he was, "truly surprised, honoured and very proud to have been awarded an OBE. I am truly thankful to have worked with so many fabulous people down the years and am proud of our great industry.
"We have all had plenty of challenges to overcome, especially in recent years, but these are great times and I would not swap my job with anyone."
