The senior producer on upcoming title Fallout:New Vegas, Jason Bergman, had conducted a Q & A recently on the official Playstation US blog yesterday, answering fans' questions on the upcoming title due for release later his month. In the Q & A Bergman covers why
Fallout:New Vegas will not just feel like DLC for
Fallout 3, "while the gameplay is similar, the world itself is very, very different. And our main storyline plays out in a very different manner, with several very different paths to completion", he points out.
Hardcore Mode will make players monitor their in-game character's hydration, consumption and sleep, however, "Hardcore Mode can be turned on or off at any time, although if you want the Hardcore trophy, you have to turn it on when initially prompted and leave it that way all the way to the end of the game. When it’s on, players will have to eat, sleep, and drink water every day. In addition, ammo has weight, companions can die, Stimpaks heal over time, and damaged limbs can only be healed with a Doctor’s Bag."
Bergman is also answered the question of if the game will have an install to which he replied that it will take 5Gb of the PS3's hard drive space. He also confirmed that their will be five Vaults in the game as well as the radio stations that will be playable in the title which will cover a range of music from New Vegas Radio (hosted by Wayne Newton) to Black Mountain Radio which plays mainly country music and Mojave Music Radio.
At the end of the Q & A Bergman was asked if a demo of
Fallout:New Vegas will be made available before the game's release but he replied that unfortunately one will not be available for download prior to the title's launch.
