Kinect Needs 2 Metres For 'Optimal Performance'

Planning on getting a Kinect device for your Xbox 360? Don't plan to put it in your box-sized bedroom - according to "hands on reports" at E3, you're going to need 2 metres of space for 'optimal performance.'

Apparently, the Kinect can work from 160 centimetres away, but you'll only be able to use gesture menus in this manner. For the full smooth gaming experience, you need 2 metres.

So one for the living room, then. Which is sort of what Microsoft is going for, so no real big loss.
