Mafia II Seeks Double Penetration with Playboy
2K Games and Playboy magazine are to team up in order to maximise the penetration of the the male and possibly lesbian gaming demographic for the forthcoming Mafia II game.

Yup, the clever chaps in marketing got together and said, "Who plays video games? Blokes do! What else do blokes do? They look at unattainable naked ladies. Hey, let's team up with a publisher of images of naked ladies. We can't lose!"

This of course is being couched in suitably namby-pamby business speak such as this from Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K Games:

"While most mob-inspired games' emphasis is solely on action, Mafia II features a deep and compelling narrative that is embellished with a sophisticated, era-evoking atmosphere.

"In partnering with Playboy, we are able to add a unique element of authenticity to the game by using vintage images from the magazine that illustrate the power of Playboy's influence on the attitudes and culture of that generation."

Awesome. Playboy kicked off in about 1953.

There's even more marketing nonsense to avoid anybody having to say, "We got booooobies dudes!" This time from Playboy magazine's Editorial Director Jimmy Jellinek.

"For more than 55 years, Playboy has been a part of America's pop culture landscape, engaging its readers with insightful features, interviews and fashion spreads, as well as pictorials of some of the world's most beautiful women.

"Mafia II is set when Playboy first came into vogue and features characters whose style and attitudes mirror content from our early issues. We're excited to bring an element of authenticity to the game that is unmatched in the men's publishing category."

Looks like the whole 'authentic 1940s' schtick is by-the-by... because no matter how much it's given the Puritan gloss... Playboy's got tits! And so, we assume, has Mafia II.
