If you haven't played a Dynasty Warriors Empires game before, the series combines the huge-scale battles of Dynasty Wars with a turn-based strategic elements. Dynasty Warriors combat is nothing if not impressive. Your characters can perform moves that will floor dozens of opponents in a single action, and you can take out hundreds within a short space of time.

In Dynasty Warriors: Empires, the dramatic combat action is still there, but now as the title suggests, the focus is more on establishing and building your empire. For the first time, Free Mode has been removed from the Empires series, and the game concentrates instead on the Empire Mode

You begin the game, if you choose to do so, by creating your warrior. DW6: Empires (as it's also known) has a very detailed character editor that lets you select your character's body shape, build, clothing and weapons; and a huge selection of weapons it is too. Alternatively you can select a pre-built warrior and, if you do, you'll be told his very long and intricate back-story to help yo understand your motivation for battle.

Next, you assemble a crew of officers and select where you will establish your base. Then, with each turn, you have the option to perform some maintenance moves and, if you are so inclined, to invade a new territory. Your goal is to take over the whole map.

The control and strategy elements of DW6: Empires have been improved to make them clearer and more intuitive than previous games. << less
