Summary

Back in the heady days of the Dreamcast, Midway brought us a crazy, over the top boxing title going by the name of Ready 2 Rumble. Back in the heady days of the Dreamcast, Midway brought us a crazy, over the top boxing title going by the name of Ready 2 Rumble. It was beloved of fans of the sweet science and gamers who just enjoy pummeling the snot out of things alike. Several ports and sequels later, the game has made its way from Midway to Atari, with the publishing powerhouse of old having decided that Wii exclusivity is the way forward.

And rightly so! The limited boxing game in Wii Sports showed us that there's definitely scope to make a good boxing game for the Wii, but no one's really stepped up and leapt into the ring.

As old-time fans would expect, Ready 2 Rumble Revolution is suitably over the top, bringing caricatured versions of celebrities and cultural archetypes to pound the canvas, such as a Vegas Elvis impersonator and a gangsta type of epic bodily proportions.

In Championship Mode, players can build a character from scratch using the game's creator tool. It'll be a bit basic to start with, but as you progress you'll be able to acquire more body parts to beef up your fighter.

If you're a novice at the sweet science (that phrase again…) fear not. Ready 2 Rumble Revolution comes packed with mini-games to get you into shape. Once you're good to go, not only will you be able to unleash your Rumble attacks against AI in the single-player mode, you'll also be able to use them to pound on your mates in multi-player. << less
