This second game follows chronologically from the events of the first game, and is inspired by the second film. The plot of the game differs somewhat from that of the movie, but if you wanted to see the movie, you'd buy the DVD, right?

Set in the 1950's in Miami, New York and Havana, The Godfather II sees the player take the role of Dominic who is instructed by Don Corleone to take control of the 'Family' business and become the top mobster in America.

Like the first Godfather game, Godfather II is a third-person action game that gives the player the freedom to explore an open world environment where they must complete story-based missions and can play optional side missions all of which involve shooting, hand-to-hand combat and driving. The fighting mechanic of the game has been enhanced so that now players can grab, kick, and head-butt enemies. During gunfights, your character can use one of many weapons such as handguns, shotguns, and machine guns. Each weapon has its have its own damage level and statistics, and the player will be have to purchase a license to be able to use more powerful weapons with with more skill.

One of The Godfather's innovative features is the squad-based mechanic. The player can command a team of gangsters to strategically co-ordinate and attack. Each member of your squad may have different skills that you can use, and this leads to many different ways of tackling every situation.

There's also a strategy element to the game that enables players to see the 'Don's View' and order members of the family to expand or protect his territory. Taking over another mobster's business interests is the way to earn cash and kudos in The Godfather. But rival families will try and do the same to you, and the only way to eliminate the threat is to take out their kingpin in a well planned assassination. << less
