Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is a top quality, top-down adventure game on the Game Boy Color. In this game you assume the role of the archaeological hero Indiana and take on the mission of solving the riddle of the ancient artefact, the Infernal Machine. The Babylonian God Marduk created this Machine over 2,500 years ago. It was stored in the legendary Tower of Babel until the tower was destroyed. When that happened the Infernal Machine was split into four parts and the high priests of the time went about hiding its four parts across the world. It is up to you to find and assemble the Infernal Machine, its power must not fall into the wrong hands. The Russians are also joining the hunt, its not easy being Indiana.
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is a puzzle game combined with an adventure game. You must be able to handle the dangerous exploration of some of the most hazardous locations on the planet. You only have your trusty whip and revolver to rely on as you take on the numerous enemies in the game. The Russians are going to do everything in their power to stop you, and then there are the natural obstacles such as snakes, jaguars and wolves to contend with.
The gameplay in Indiana Jones is balanced and playable. Its puzzles are devious but ultimately solvable using lateral thinking. The answer is always staring you right in the face, but not obviously so. Its always a bonus when games make you think in addition to making you react.
The graphics are well drawn especially considering the hardware limitations of Nintendos ageing portable console. The Infernal Machine boasts some impressive cut-scenes and music that adds to the tension. The story is interesting and the game plays well.
