Mario Tennis is the Tennis game to own on the Nintendo 64. Many people regard Super Tennis as the most playable tennis simulation ever released. Now, there is a new contender for the throne. Mario Tennis captures the excitement of this fast paced sport and brings the action into your living room. Featuring all of your favourite Nintendo characters, Mario Tennis is the proving ground to determine who the best tennis player is.

The cute graphical style is appealing and suited to this kind of game. The animation is top class and all of the characters have their trademark catch phrases. The amount of speech in the game is impressive. The control method is intuitive and easy to learn. Although Mario Tennis is easy to get into, it is difficult to master. You can charge up your shots at the expense of your movement. When you unleash one of these powerhouse shots you are treated to some impressive visual effects, especially on the replays.

There are several game modes for you to choose from, including tournaments and exhibition play. There is even a special Bowser stage that tilts back and forwards while you play and features power-ups. Hitting someone with a turtle shell as they are about to return your smash is very amusing. Mario Tennis really comes into its own in the four-player mode with many hours of engrossing gameplay to enjoy. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new champion.
