Microsoft Claims 360 More Powerful Than PlayStation 3
CFO fires horsepower shot at rival.
Microsoft’s home and entertainment chief financial officer Bryan Lee is the latest executive to go on record on the subject of processing power, claiming the Xbox 360 outperforms Sony’s emerging PlayStation 3. The claims, made this week during the UBS Global Media Conference in New York, counter Sony’s assertion that it will next year launch the most powerful home console ever.
“If Sony does hit the specs which they've said they'll have, there's a debate,” said Lee. “There are a couple of categories where they outdo us, and there's several categories where we outdo them. On balance I think most people who study this space will tell you that our system is slightly more powerful than theirs, from a hardware standpoint.” Echoing Micosoft Chairman Bill Gates’ comments on the issue, Lee concluded, “But for the purposes of this discussion, I think it's fair to say they're both Ferraris."
As to whether this is hyperbole aimed at stealing any potential thunder SCE may unleash remains to be seen, though the development community, now in possession of the first wave of PlayStation SDKs, have made encouraging remarks about the raw grunt they have at their disposal.

The PS3 is going to be more powerful than your face. The PS3 and XBox 360 have the same exaggeration power.
The problem with the XBox 360 is that it doesn't play my favourite games, because it's not compatible with them. Unless it had a real penis. I think an HDTV is a waste of money, TBH, until they start broadcasting Neighbours in high definition.
What I like about the PS3 is that emits power and arrogance, which no one can match, so owning one will make me feel more like a real man.

Does it really matter if xbox 360 is powerful than the ps3, lets face the facts here everybody know that ps3 is goin to out sell microsoft no matter what happens, because thats everybody #1 system according to sales. Plus the name sells itself, and they goin to have more support that xbox360 bottom line. I'm no ps3 fan or anything, i like both system but im just saying a simple fact.

I think Sony's willy is large AND they know what to do with it. Everybody wants one AND the games are good. Everybody just wants an X-Box but they have no games. Nintendo is the small one BUT they definitely know how to please the 8-80 crowd over. There kind of like Mr. Jackson. Creepy.

Yeah...the 360 has no games....what? It has one of the better launch line ups that we've seen, which is all you can ever really base a new system's games off of. Hell...wait until Sony throws the ps3 out there. Sony NEVER has a good line up of launch titles...ever. MS, on the other hand, is slowly gaining more and more third party support from all over. There's a reason the XBX360 is supposed to have relatively high sales. Again, Nintendo will be left in the dust while the 360 demolishes all in the states and arguably Europe while the ps3 will hold its home turf in the orient. It will be difficult for the turnout to be much different considering the situation at hand. Again, I'm not saying the 360 will outsell (overall) the PS3, but don't be surprised if the ps3 collects only regional victories under their belt. Look up the current sales figures and sales projections from analysts all over (not company reports, statistics, and projections) and you'll see the future. ^_~

Tell me what the new Halo is? Perfect Dark? HA! So it has a few sports games, an average snowboarder, a bum killing simulator (which might I add is very atmospheric and fun game, but not a system seller), Another FPS with a horrible single player game, etc. WOW! Sounds like the PS2 line-up. Real top notch! Every time a new system launches now, it's going to sell out, unless Fisher Price is making it. So that means nothing but the hype machine winning again.
As for the Sony's sales, right now, it's still king. Even with the new X-Box out. So what is that saying? Sony sucks of course and should give up ship now before it gets any better for them.
The one thing that could hurt the PS3 is bad online support. If it's not on par or better than Microsoft's, that could cause problems.

Vault is right, Xbox360 probably has the worst launch like the PS2, PSP and DS game-wise and probably is the worst ever supply-wise.
Outside analysts commenting on the gaming industry... what a joke, when is the first time analysts actually said something right about the gaming industry, eeumh...never. Analysts are so full of self-esteemed bullshit to say anything remotely relevant about the gaming industry. Be it about Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft.
The only good things they say is afterwards talk. "Owh look, Nintendogs is selling so good, didn't see that one coming ,why would that be, hmmm... let's see who buys it and state the obvious that everyone can figure out!" kind of talk.
Gamers on forums as these are better analysts and those over-payed bastards.

What I know is that Microsoft will own you one day, so you might as well give in now and buy an XBox 360. Its power increases by every quote, too, so it's a good investment.
There's no point buying a PS3, because the PS4 will be millions of times faster, and backwards compatible... However, it will require remortgaging your house, and all your friends will own one anyway, so you might as well buy a PS3, too.
Either way, you will feel proud that you own "possibly the most powerful games console ever made," even if you're a girl.
The real winners aren't the people wasting their time playing computer games, but the poeple who are making 200% profit on the XBox 360 hardware on ebay!

xbox360 = 1 terraflop
on release microsoft claimed there machine had 2, but it lost 1. how did that happen. i wonder... is there only me who noticed the specs at the time before these machines where released. i am not telling fibs. microsoft claimed. the xbox360 was 2 teraflops. at tokyo gameshow. when the specs was revealed. later after that. it came down to 1 terraflop.
