Drive Your Own Car in Gran Turismo

Well, if you're American and you've got a really 'fat whip'. Dogs to compete for Best in Show

Most people play Gran Turismo to experience something of the thrill of driving cars that are beyond their wildest dreams. But a competition in LA next week will see the lucky winner’s car make it into a future GT game. All you have to do if you want your car to make it in is have it voted the best out of a selection of the most impressive custom cars the west coast has to offer.

On Wednesday in Las Vegas, SCEA will host the third annual GT awards for custom cars. If the videogames about the American custom car scene we’ve played are anything to go by, there’ll be a lot of people doing complicated handshakes and calling each other ‘dog’. And the overall winner of these urban stereotypes will get their very own car in a forthcoming GT title, presumably GT5 on the PS3. The ‘Best in Show’ award will go to the best of the best in several categories: Best American car, best Jap import, best Euro import, best Hot Rod and best Truck/SUV, so even drivers of joke cars get a look in. It starts at 8PM on Wednesday at the SEMA in Vegas, so if you want to enter and you live in Europe, your car had better be fitted with some powerful outboard engines.
