Xbox 360 Launch Line-up Unlikely – PDZ Re-named?
US retailer Electronics Boutique, lovingly referred to as ‘work’ by most Internet games pundits, has published a list of Xbox 360 launch window titles.

Offering what is the most concise set of titles for any next-generation console, EB claims Microsoft and affiliates are prepping 27 launch window games, 21 for day one, slated as November 2, 2005, and six more on November 16.

The list reads:

Amped 3 (2K Games)
Call of Duty 2 (Activision)
Condemned (Sega)
Dead Or Alive 4 (Tecmo)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Bethesda)
Final Fantasy XI (Microsoft)
Full Auto (Sega)
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Gun (Activision)
Kameo: Elements of Power (Microsoft)
Madden NFL 06 (EA)
NBA 2K6 (2K Games)
NHL 2K6 (2K Games)
The Outfit (THQ)
Perfect Dark LE (Microsoft)
Project Gotham Racing 3 (Microsoft)
Quake 4 (Activision)
Ridge Racer 6 (Namco)
Saints Row (THQ)
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (Activision)
Top Spin 2 (2K Games)
Burnout Revenge
FIFA Soccer 06
Peter Jackson's King Kong
NBA Live 06
Need For Speed Most Wanted
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06

EB claims, or rather expects, the core Xbox 360 system to cost $299, though it makes no mention of the elusive hard drive.

SPOnG however, believes this list to be bogus, with Microsoft representatives offering launch estimates somewhat below EB’s leaked roster figures. Indeed, speaking exclusively to SPOnG, Xbox’s Peter Moore said, “…my experience tells me that it will be somewhere between...well, as little as 10 and many as 15 or 16 seems to be where it's at. The key is to make a strategic decision - do you have the genres covered? Sports games, fighting games, racing games - do you have them all covered? The three we should talk about, and that we are focusing on from a first-party point of view are Kameo and Perfect Dark from Rare, and Project Gotham Racing 3 from Bizarre. But it's difficult to say. Even now as we continue to evolve and see stuff every day, these are the launch titles and this is how many there'll be and this is when we'll be ready in the US and then Europe and then Japan.”

Can you spot what might be wrong with the 360 console we snapped the other day?

That's all I can see as well. Been trying to compare it to the pics in the interview with Moore.

Not a bad line-up for launch, I think. Although I still don't think I'm likely to get one at that time, it looks as though most major genres are covered -- the only exception is fighting games. However, after looking at the titles sitting near my systems, it's definately the least-important genre -- I don't know the last time I pulled out Soul Calibur II to play.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I doubt PDZ is renamed. I expect it's a "Limited Edition" of the game.

Wait a second; Burnout Revenge is not a next gen title, is it? It was demoed at E3, and is a PS2/XBox title.

BR will be multi-platform and multi-generation.
Exciting huh? Like LIVING IN THE FUTURE!
Hardly new for EA though - Look at the support for PlayStation over the years... :-)
