Dead Rush Dies Quickly – Activision Dumps Promising Splatterfest

GTA meets Res Evil not a big enough proposition?

Only two months after Activison initially revealed its GTA-style survival horror title Dead Rush, it has decided to cancel the project. It must be said, the proposed fusion of Carmageddon, Resident Evil and Grand Theft Auto sounded rather tempting to us. However, company CEO Ron Doornink said that the title didn’t meet Activision’s standards for a big proposition, and so it is no longer a going concern.

It seems a shame, as Dead Rush was one of the more interesting titles unveiled at this year’s E3, and under development by Treyarch (of Spiderman 2 fame) it could have been something quite special. That said, perhaps the superficial presentation didn’t bear relevance to how the actual game was really progressing.

If Dead Rush ever rises from the grave again, it’s sure to be a newsworthy moment, and you'll read about it here.

I too was really looking forwrd to this game, and it would have been nice to have something to play other than RE and SH series.

Perhaps Activision should try and sell the concept to another developer, someone out there might want it.

A good way to get feed back for it, just put a demo online so we can get some idea of what it would have been like. Shame really especially after I enjoy True Crime so much.

Oh well, another one bites the dust. Never mind.
